BYF Team Presents Youth Data Collection Concept to ABG Departments

BYF Executives with Autonomous Bougainville Government representatives and Bougainville Partnership officials

The Bougainville Youth Foundation (BYF) has taken a major step in launching a region-wide data collection initiative targeting the youth population. As part of its preparatory efforts, the BYF team formally presented its Concept Note to key departments within the Autonomous Bougainville Government (ABG).

Departments represented at the presentation included:

• Department of Community Development

• Department of Community Government

• Department of Commerce, Trade and Industry

• Law and Justice Office

• Department of Bougainville Independence Mission Implementation

Delivering the keynote address, Secretary Medley Koito of the Department of Community Development highlighted the importance of cross-departmental coordination.

“The Department of Community Development is actively implementing policies to support program and project partnerships with civil society organizations, local non-profits, and international partners,” said Secretary Koito.

He further noted that current statistics on youth-related socio-economic issues are outdated and emphasized that the upcoming data collection effort is essential for informed programming across ABG departments.
