The Bougainville Youth Federation (BYF) is proud to announce that it’s Secretary, Mr. Austin Gagesin, represented BYF at the 13th Commonwealth Youth Parliament held in Sydney, Australia.

The Commonwealth Youth Parliament is an annual gathering that brings together young leaders from across the Commonwealth to strengthen leadership, promote democratic values, and deepen young people's understanding of parliamentary processes and good governance. The program provides participants with the opportunity to exchange ideas, build lasting networks, and develop the knowledge and skills needed to contribute meaningfully to their communities and countries.

Mr. Gagesin's participation is a significant milestone for the Bougainville Youth Federation and reflects the growing recognition of Bougainvillean youth in regional and international leadership platforms. His attendance also highlights BYF's ongoing commitment to empowering young people and ensuring that the voices of Bougainville's youth are represented in important global discussions.

BYF extends its sincere appreciation to the Australian Government through Australian Aid (AusAID) and Bougainville Partnership for their longstanding investment in strengthening youth leadership in Bougainville and for helping establish a strong foundation for Bougainvillean youth through the Bougainville Youth Federation as the peak youth body.

The Federation also expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the Autonomous Bougainville Government Department of Community Development and Parliamentary Services for their continued support and commitment to empowering young people across Bougainville. Their partnership continues to create valuable opportunities for youth participation in governance and leadership.

Special thanks are also extended to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the European Union (EU) for supporting and funding Mr. Gagesin's participation in this important international event. Their support demonstrates a shared commitment to strengthening youth leadership, democratic participation, and good governance throughout the region.

As Bougainville continues its journey towards a stronger future, opportunities such as the Commonwealth Youth Parliament provide an invaluable platform for young leaders to gain experience, foster international partnerships, and return home equipped with new knowledge and perspectives that will benefit the youth of Bougainville.

The Bougainville Youth Federation congratulates Mr. Austin Gagesin on representing Bougainville with pride and wishes him continued success as he contributes to advancing youth leadership and good governance throughout the region.
